Sharpening is defined as the process of erecting a blunt blade with the help of a sharpening steel. If a knife is already blunt it has to be grinded in order to be sharp again.
Just in time for IFFA 2010 Friedr. Dick presents, a new member of the Rapid Steel family: The functional Magneto Steel. It was jointly designed with a design company and shaped in collaboration with professionals from the deboning industry and refined through intensive practice tests and made ready for production. The ease of use is also convincing here: easy pulling leads to the best cutting edge. The integrated permanent magnets draw the knife sharpening angle exactly in the unit. The result is a precise edge with optimum angle. Springs without measurable wear and the best sharpening rods of stainless steel of course remain unchanged. Also new are the stainless steel skid plates, the knife is held securely in the sharpening unit and avoid plastic sections in the meat. At the same time, the protective plates have a polishing effect without the blade of the knife to be damaged when pulled. Handholds on the front ensure optimal handling and a secure grip even with gloves. The mechanics of the device is closed and therefore especially safe from outside influences. The Magneto Steel can be used as a handheld device or as a tabletop device in the holder. The variable usable bracket is available as accessory part. It can be very easily screwed without special tools at the workplace. The holder has the option to stick the Magneto Steel in three different positions, frontal or left respectively right orientation. Thus it can be fully integrated into the workflow and the user can always position it facing. Also, the Magneto Steel can be attached directly to the workplace, for which there are two holes at the bottom of the unit. The two eyelets in the upper grip area make it possible for the device to be chained or connected with a theft-proof lock.
